Mongolia’s Third-Neighbor Diplomacy

Ulaanbaatar still frames its foreign policy around “third neighbors” beyond China and Russia—the United States, Japan, Korea and Europe—while trade, energy and transit remain tightly bound to the two giants. The project asks how far this diplomacy can offset economic dependence, and where security exposure reappears in mining, railways and airspace.
